Bail Bondsmen Charged with Assault

A bail bondsman from Temecula and one of his employees are facing assault charges. They are accused of acting as though they were police officers and misrepresenting themselves.

The arraignment for Fausto Atilano and his employee Vincent Cusumano is scheduled for December 2nd. The charges date back to 2013. At that time, it is alleged that the two bail bondsman kicked in the door of one woman’s apartment and came in with guns drawn. Earlier in the same day, they had done the same thing at another woman’s residence. Because the men claimed they had a search warrant, the women assumed they were police officers. The bondsmen claim they were looking for a defendant who had skipped bail.

The charges were filed by the state attorney general’s office. The bondsmen turned themselves in on Tuesday and then posted bail. Their attorney, Virginia Blumenthal says that there are more relevant details regarding the case that have not yet been shared with the public.
