Judge Declares Conflict of Interest

A judge has ruled that Melissa Harrell, recently elected Circuit Court Clerk, must close her family bail bond business in order to be compliant with the state law.

The law states that a Circuit Court Clerk cannot receive any benefit from a bond being issued. It is considered a conflict of interest.

The license was revoked from the Harrell family business, AAAA Bonding Co. The ruling allows the business to have 30 days.

The district attorney stated, “I feel like the judge has made the appropriate ruling. I feel confident that Melissa Harrell will do a good job as clerk and I look forward to working with her in the future.”
